Current African Scrabble Champion and University of Lagos undergraduate, Enock Nwali, has won the 2024 Asaph Zadok National Championship title. He won 20 games, drew 1 and accumulated a +1220 spread after 28 rounds of games. His Lagos state teammate, John Aiyedun claimed the 2nd spot with 19 wins and +701 spread. University of Lagos (UNILAG), final-year Pharmacy student and current West Africa Scrabble Champion, Doko Oluwatimilehin secured the 3rd position with 18 wins and +1057 cumulative spread. Enock Nwali, will be officially declared the 2024 NSF National Champion on Sunday during the awards and gala ceremony with a trophy and cash prize. He will also be decorated with the Champions Green Jacket reserved for winners of the Asaph Zadok National Championship.
Lagos state team emerged the best team at the championship. Title holders Delta state team members Godwin Victor and Jighere Wellington finished in the 4th and 5th places respectively. Victor had 18 wins and +779, while the former World Champion and two time African Scrabble Champion, Jighere finished with +720 points from 18 wins. Full results and statistics.
63 players from 8 state took part in the three-day event which is part of the week-long NSF Scrabble Festival.
