The Scrabble event of the 21st National Sports Festival will begin on Thursday the 1st of December and run till Tuesday the 6th of December, 2022 in Asaba, Delta state. The Nigeria Scrabble Federation shall organize the event as part of the games of the 21st Sports Festival. Medals shall be awarded in the individual (Single) and team (Doubles and Team) events. Each event shall be contested in 4 different categories viz - Masters, Intermediate, Opens, and Female. The venue is the New Multipurpose Hall, Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba - Delta State, Nigeria.

Categories

The event categories are the Master, Intermediate, Open, and Female

• Masters: Rating 1400 and above
• Intermediate: Rating between 1100 - 1399
• Open: 0 (Unrated) to 1099
• Female: as applies above

Mode of Play/Rules

• No of Games: 1 random, 13 lagged, 4 KOH (King of the Hill). Total 18 rounds
• Game Rules: All Current WESPA & NSF Rules will apply except otherwise stated.
• Time Allotment:20 minutes will be allotted to each player per round.
• Dictionary:Collins Scrabble Words Dictionary, 2021.

Schedule of Events

The event shall begin with the traditional General (rating) tournament on Thursday, 1st December. The registration fee for the General Tourney is one thousand nairas (N1,000). The Singles event starts on Friday the 2nd of December, through 2 pm on Saturday the 3rd when the Doubles event begins. The Doubles event runs till Sunday the 4th.
